INGALENA KLENELL

INGALENA KLENELL:"The french philosopher Simone Weil argues that vulnerability is the sign of existence. This is something that has touched me deeply and inspired me as an artist from the beginning. I find that this belief connects with glass, both as a material and as a medium of certain possibilities. Brittleness and vulnerability, combined with light as a source of inspiration, are for me about the search for what is central in the human condition, the ultimate ground for what I try to do.
Glass is brittle. Its brittle qualities are expressive, in my work, of the brittle qualities of life itself, its existential vulnerabilities. You find it in the ecosystems of nature as well as the vulnerability and sometimes painful experience of beeing human that are issues I work with and they inform the questions I try to ask."
