I Premios de vidrio artístico de Cataluña

La Fundación Centro del Vidrio de Barcelona invita a participar activamente en la convocatoria de los PRIMEROS PREMIOS DE VIDRIO ARTÍSTICO de Cataluña que han de representar no sólo un estímulo para los propios artesanos, artistas y talleres directamente implicados en la creación de obras aplicando las diferentes técnicas del vidrio artístico, sino que también supone una apuesta de futuro para dar a conocer las posibilidades y aplicaciones que permite este material.

Tom Iglehart

Made with the finest reclaimed glass bottles, steel crown caps, rolled aluminium cans and high voltage copper and aluminium overhead wire. These original designs use unique, powerful and very simple tissue wicking.

The centre bottle filled with water is a rise and fall counterweight and acts as a lens catching, focusing and projecting large flames and all shades of light into the surroundings.

Ruben Fasani

Ruben Fasani,artista argentino que nace el 22 de diciembre de 1960. Estudia en la Escuela Nacional de Cerámica, obteniendo el título de Técnico Nacional en Cerámica Artística.
En el año 1989 inaugura junto a Marcia Larrubia su Taller - Exposición FUEGO Y FORMA donde trabaja y expone sus obras hasta la fecha.
En 1991 realiza un viaje durante 6 meses recorriendo los centros mas importantes de Japón y Europa dedicados a la cerámica y vidrio donde se contacta con distintos talleres intercambiando experiencias.
Desde 1996 viene trabajando en vidrio combinando dos técnicas: vidrio fundido (modelado) dentro de un hono y pasta de vidrio (cera perdida)

Marc Petrovic

Mark Petrovic graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Art in 1991, where he received the top Agnes Gund Memorial scholarship. He has taught workshops at numerous locations, including The Studio, Penland School of Crafts, Haystack, and the Niijima Glass Center. A frequent collaborator with his wife Kari Russell-Poole, his work can be seen in many museums throughout the U.S.

Alex Anagnostou

Alex Anagnostou, born in Toronto, has danced around with the visual arts for over 20 years. Sculpting blown and cast glass since 2000, much of her conceptual work is inspired by how glass has expanded our ability to see on a microscopic and telescopic level. She is an observer of human nature and is interested in how individuals interact within their social and physical environment. Her sculptures explore issues of space, energy, human behaviour, movement and interconnectedness.

Alex is an artist in residence at the Living Arts Centre glass studio where she sculpts cast and blown glass. She has a studio in Toronto where she assembles and cold works her pieces. Alex holds two fine art-related degrees from the University of Toronto (B.A. Fine Arts Management) and the University of Western Ontario (B.Ed. Visual Arts). She graduated with a silver medal from the School of Crafts and Design specializing in glass at Sheridan College in Canada.

Alex has received twelve awards in the last five years including a scholarship from the Glass Art Society based in Seattle, WA and a residency at Harbourfront Centre in Toronto. She has been selected for numerous juried exhibitions including the Glass Art Association of Canada’s National Emerging Glass Art Exhibition and Le Verre “hot”, an exhibition of innovative glass in Canada.

Alex was the featured artist at West End Gallery’s glass exhibition in the summer and will have a solo show at Material Matters Gallery in Toronto in May 2007. Commissions include working with award-winning II by IV Design Associates Inc. to complete a 12 x 16’ wall installation of blown glass. Her work is represented in eight galleries in Canada and two in the U.S. and is held in private collections in five countries.

Catherine Vamvakas Lay

Born in Crete, Greece, Catherine Vamvakas Lay is a Canadian citizen who lives and works in Toronto, specialized in glass sculpture focused on translation and definition of varied forms of transformation. Recently, she just completed a three years residency at the glass studio at Harbourfront centre in Toronto, and she has exhibited extensively and received numerous honours and awards for her work.

Nad Vallee

Nad Vallée est née à Paris. Elle vit et travaille dans les Alpes Maritimes. Après avoir suivi des études artistiques, elle obtient le Diplôme de l'Ecole Supérieure des Arts Modernes de Paris et de l'Ecole du Louvre. Graphiste dans la Publicité à Paris durant 20 ans, elle éprouve ensuite le besoin de projeter l'image dans l'espace. C'est en travaillant la terre que la rencontre avec le volume et la matière s'est réalisée. Mais il lui manquait la transparence. Le verre donc s'imposait. Elle suit une formation à l'Université du Verre de Sars-Poteries et à l'Atelier du Verre à Paris. Dès 1996 elle crée son atelier à côté de Fontainebleau qu'elle quitte en 2000 pour s'installer dans le Sud-Est de la France. Ses perpétuelles recherches sur les aspects du verre et les oppositions entre transparence et opacité aboutissent à la création “d'une pierre de lumière”.
Elle associe la terre, la pierre, la lave qui, comme le cristal est née d'une fusion, et le béton dans ses dernières créations. Elle utilise le langage universel et intemporel des symboles (signes ethniques, empreintes, traces, signes de vie, mémoire du temps). Elle crée un monde au-delà des formes où la couleur s'épanouit au gré de la lumière et de l'espace. Le sens général de son travail peut se définir par la communion d'un élément matière complémentaire à un élément lumière créés et unis au cours d'un chemin d'émotions.
